How high is too high for a skirt slit?

I am impressed by what people wear in Kyiv. Sometimes in a good way and sometimes in a bad way. Much of the time, I'm just darn confused. I took this at 8:30am. I would assume this lady was on her way to work. I certainly was.

Rockin' Out!

Usually I walk home from work and avoid Independence Square. On Friday, I was running late and wanted to get home, so I took the Kyiv Metro. When I take the Kyiv Metro home, I have to walk through Independence Square. In general, there are a lot of festive things going on. On Friday, in lead up to the Euro Cup (which is starting in a few short days), there was a concert where people were learning a choreographed dance. Ohh, what fun!

Land of the Munchkins

Troop 41501 went on a bird-watching excursion over the weekend. We went to a park not far from the US Embassy. This particular park had all sorts of fun activities for kids, one of which was a train ride around the grounds. The funny thing about this train is that it is run by children. They welcome you on board, read a bit of a welcome off of a post card and punch your tickets. They all had uniforms and were darn cute.

Kitchen Cuttery

Tom has the best attitude in the whole world. He finally gave in and let me cut his hair! I had been threatening to cut it since he looked totally SHAGGY and wouldn't confront the language barrier at a barber here. For my first cut, without any real research, it doesn't look half bad. But, at the same time, I don't think it looks entirely professional. We went to triva last night and no one commented either way, so I suppose it wasn't too noticeable.

Victory Day

May 9th is Victory Day here in Ukraine. It's when Ukrainians celebrate the end of The Great Patriotic War (a.k.a. WWII), but it's also a celebration for all Veterans. Tom and I visited the war memorials, along with everyone else in Kyiv. It was really amazing to see elderly men and women in their military attire, decked out in their medals. People continue to present the men and women with flowers and thank them.
